Mentors

Westworks prides itself on providing the right environment for its employees to grow.

We believe a large part of this growth comes from having the right mentors showing less-experienced workers how to act like a professional and do high-quality work.

The Westworks team is always growing and shrinking, but at the moment we have three highly successful carpenters (and people) who truly fit the definition of a mentor.

Jim West- Owner and Operator

Jim lives on the North Shore with his wife and three of his children. Jim has extensive experience as a carpenter, working as one for over sixteen years. Since he founded Westworks in 1997, he has been mainly performing management and client-relation duties, which he has become proficient at. Jim spends much of his spare time wood-carving, and is eager to teach friends and employees the craft.

Jim is a great mentor for aspiring carpenters, carpenters who may want to work toward starting their own business, and aspiring wood-carvers.

Ken McCormack- Foreman

Ken has been with Westworks for 15 years. A father of two, Ken is dedicated to his job and shows it with energy and enthusiasm every day on site. Ken is a people-person, so he forms strong relationships with clients and co-workers. Ken is a very skilled carpenter and is not afraid to help other crew members improve.

Ken is a great mentor for young carpenters who want to grow as professionals and be able to take on more responsibility.

Brendon Prout- Foreman

Brendon was born and raised in New Zealand and moved to Vancouver in 2010, being hired by Westworks only a few months later. Brendon has a family with two pre-elementary children. He is a very easy guy to get along with and he makes the days go by quick with his sense-of-humour. Brendon is a great teacher, never hesitating to share his knowledge in a positive manner.

Brendon is an excellent mentor for anyone trying to grow as a carpenter and as a person.
